Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande-Butera,/,a.ri'a.n@ 'gra?ndeI/ AReeAH-n@ GRAHN.day;[note 1,born June 26, 1993), is an American artist, actress and singer. Her distinctive use of the whistle register and the four-octave range of her voice are well-regarded by media and critics. Grande has been awarded numerous times throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards and one Brit Award. She also took home three American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and nine MTV Video Music Awards.
Grande began her musical journey at the age of 15 years old and appeared in the Broadway musical 13 (2008 Broadway). Her fame grew due to her being the character Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon TV series Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013-2014). Grande signed with Republic Records in 2011 after management of the label viewed YouTube videos of her singing songs. The 1950s-doo-wop-inspired R&B and pop debut album, [2] Yours Truly (2013) which debuted at the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album was instantly and compared to Mariah Carey's duet vocals and whistle register.
She continued to explore pop and R&B in her third and second studio albums, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016). My Everything experimented with EDM and gained global acclaim with the singles "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang" as well as Dangerous Woman became her first album to have four consecutive albums at number one in the UK. Her personal struggles have influenced her trap-infused fourth and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019) both of which have been commercial and critical success. Sweetener earned her the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and Thank U, Next broke the record for the biggest streaming week for a pop album and received nominations for Album of the Year. The songs "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" helped make Grande the first solo artist to be in the top three positions on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first woman to succeed herself at the top of the UK Singles Chart. Grande's collaborations in 2020, including Justin Bieber ("Stuck with U") and Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me" were both nominated for the Grammy Award as Best Pop duo or group performance. Grande expanded on trap with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) in which the title track and the album's title track debuted at top spot in the UK. In 2021, she collaborated with The Weeknd on the remix of "Save Your Tears", making her the sixth US number-one single.
